After a long and tiring season of rat eradication, on Easter PonDerat went back to Ventotene for a different kind of visit. In these days, the island started to populate again by tourists, local people back home for Easter, and many birdwatchers, converged here from all over Italy to observe migratory birds. We took advantage of these days of vacation to meet people and communicate our project. A small delegation of PonDerat, together with the local association Lavica, worked hard to promote our activities in an original way. The idea came to two colleagues from the Regional Natural Reserve of Lake Vico (Lucia and Armando) who proposed a Kamishibai-style theater show to tell the “History of Ponderat”. This form of narration, which originated in Japan in the twelfth century, allows to convey even complex concepts thanks to the perfect combination of stories and images. We repeated the representation in different points of the island to reach as many people as possible, including the children of the “Altiero Spinelli” school who participated enthusiastically. At the end of the show, a nice walk accompanied by "our" Carmen to admire the biodiversity of Ventotene.
